Health care is currently one of the most aggressively growing industries in the Northland. With medical facilities in every corner of the region, the Northeast, MN and Northwest, WI is among the best equipped for primary and secondary health care needs in the nation.

As medical technology continues to advance, the population begins to age, and the demand for high quality health care assistance strengthens, many Northland health care providers are projected to continue to experience growth trends across the field. As these trends materialize, employment in the health care industry is projected to continue increasing progressively throughout the Northland region.

Employment projections forecast the number of jobs in the education and health services industries to increase by nearly 20 percent between 2002 and 2012. Of the estimated 25,800 regional jobs to be added over the 10-year period, over 10,200 or 40 percent are projected to be in the education and health services industries.

Health care practitioners, technical, and support occupations are projected to grow 20 percent. In fact, health-service related occupations account for half of 30 projected fastest growing areas in the Northland. This doesn't even include the incredible number of retirements that will be taking place over this period.
